WEB2MEDIA never collects person-related data about users without their explicit approval. This relates to such information as names, addresses, e-mail addresses or telephone numbers. At present there are no independent bodies that oversee this process.
Advertising is the vital source of finance for a very large number of Internet companies and premium content providers. When an Ad is requested, the ad server receives information from the user's browser which influences which ad is sent back. The registration, collection and use of such information are subject to stringent data protection regulations.
WEB2MEDIA uses cookies to store the following non-person-related data:
- Browser type (such as Internet Explorer 5.0)
- Operating system (such as Windows)
- Date and time at which a specific banner was delivered
This data allows us to measure the delivery of banners and to report the results to our customers. This data also includes such information as the number of clicks on a banner or how often a specific banner has been delivered to an individual user. We sometimes aggregate the data acquired in the individual networks internally for statistical purposes.
WEB2MEDIA also automatically saves the IP address that is sent via the user's browser. This data is stored for a maximum period of two months. In this we are different from Internet Service Providers (ISPs) because WEB2MEDIA cannot assign IP addresses to certain users so no personal-related data will be generated. Personal-related data can only be generated if WEB2MEDIA data is combines with the of an ISP. WEB2MEDIA prevents this from happening by not transmitting any IP Addresses it generates to any third parties. Our customer's reports do not include any IP addresses. Contractually WEB2MEDIA advises its customers to prevent any breaches in data protection law. Moreover the customer should inform its users (the website) that its IP address will be transferred to WEB2MEDIA and that cookies could be set.
WEB2MEDIA considers it its duty to be in a continual dialogue with the Slovak data protection authorities.
